With the cocktail reception gaining popularity, wedding day fashion has followed suit. Sure, the bride and her bridesmaid’s may don traditional frocks, but they may change into party-ready ensembles for the celebration. This means a little white dress for the bride and several options for the ‘maids, from classic LBD’s to popular jewel-toned options, complete with stand-out accessories (metallic clutch, jeweled sandals, sensational jewelry, etc). As for the groom and his men, a dapper suit can transition seamlessly from the altar to the bar, especially when paired with a chic pocket square and coordinating tie.

When Kirsten and Maria Palladino were planning their wedding in 2008, they were highly discouraged by the complete exclusion of planning resources and magazine media for same-sex couples. Instead of crumbling under their frustration, they used it to start Equally Wed, a fabulous magazine that caters exclusively to same-sex couples on their way to marriage, with planning articles, real wedding features and a plethora of gay-friendly vendors across the nation.

I would go into how this endeavor speaks volumes about the long-overdue shift in marriage equality and how awesome the magazine is (check out the website if you don’t believe me) but, I think the article speaks for itself-so, read it!

In my head, I imagined that engagement and wedding rings of the future would look like this!

Renaissance Fine Jewelry is an Etsy seller that specializes in titanium rings. Within their inventory is a wide range of lovely tension-set rings featuring several different gemstones. Not only are the prices perfect for a couple on a tight budget, but they offer sizing at no extra cost. Yes! Now, it only we could perfect the flying car…

I’ve already gushed about issue #4 of Nonpareil, an online wedding decor magazine. However, I would like to highlight one of my favorite articles. This Breakfast At Tiffany’s-inspired look is a lovely example of how to look equally fresh-faced and polished on the big day. especially since the shades used are easily adaptable to a wide range of skin tones. Besides, who doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn in this iconic role?

Once again, I am impressed with wedding bands made with alternative materials! Custom Jewelry by Johan is an Etsy seller that specializes in titanium, meteorite, and wood-grain rings that would be perfect for the modern couple. Johan also accepts custom work-just send him a sketch and he will turn it into reality. But, if your imagination doesn’t stretch so far, simply choose one of the gorgeous ready-made designs.

I was browsing through the Etsy “Wedding” section and came across these gorgeous ring bearer pillows by White Thistle Bridal Designs. These would be the perfect accessory to a garden wedding, as these pillows features an oversize replica of floral favorites. For those who are more minimalist, there are several simpler designs as well, and all designs are able to be customized. I’m especially a fan of the sunflower-so bright and cheery, especially since it is storming something fierce in my area.
